What the Constitution Means to Me

This Pulitzer Prize finalist has been sparking conversations and lighting up theaters since its premiere in 2019. In this sharp, electrifying, and deeply personal play, Heidi Schreck brings the U.S. Constitution to life, challenging its promises and reimagining its impact on future generations.

At fifteen, Schreck earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the country. Now, she revisits her teenage self to explore the profound connections between four generations of women in her family and the founding document that shaped their rights, freedoms, and citizenship. With humor, history, and a fierce sense of urgency, What the Constitution Means to Me isn’t just a reflection on the past—it’s a call to engage with the future.
